Former First Lady Melania Trump announced a new scholarship initiative for foster children on Thursday, collaborating with IndyCar and several universities. The program, an expansion of her "Fostering the Future" platform, seeks to provide greater opportunities for young people aging out of the foster care system.

This partnership will provide funding for scholarships through Indiana and Purdue universities, joining 24 other institutions across the country that are part of the initiative. According to Marc Beckman, Trump's senior advisor, only about 3% of individuals who have been in foster care go on to complete any level of college, leading to higher rates of homelessness and other societal issues among this population.

To commemorate the partnership, IndyCar designed a custom red, white, and blue helmet for Melania Trump, featuring her name and the "Be Best" and "Fostering the Future" program branding.

The announcement coincides with the lead-up to the Freedom 250 Grand Prix race in Washington, D.C. Melania Trump, accompanied by President Trump, is scheduled to take an honorary lap before the race on Sunday.

Beckman emphasized that 100% of the funds raised for the scholarship program will directly benefit students, with no administrative or marketing fees deducted. The scholarships are merit-based and available to any foster child. Blue, white, and red IndyCar helmet with "Fostering The Future" on the side.

The "Fostering the Future" program is a central element of Melania Trump's broader "Be Best" initiative, which focuses on children's well-being, education, and digital safety. Past efforts under this platform have included the establishment of Trump Savings Accounts for foster children and hosting international summits on children's issues. Legislation aimed at allocating more federal resources to foster children has passed the House of Representatives and awaits Senate approval. President Trump has also signed an executive order to direct additional federal resources toward supporting foster children.
