Comedy legend Mel Brooks marked his 100th birthday on June 28, celebrating with friends and family. His son, Max Brooks, shared photos from the festivities on social media, highlighting his father's sharp wit and good health at the century mark.

Max Brooks posted a tribute on Facebook on Monday, sharing images from the weekend celebration. One photograph captured the elder Brooks beaming, surrounded by his inner circle. Another image revealed a birthday cake adorned with a black and white photograph of a bridge and golden candles shaped like the number '100'.

"In perfect health with a razor sharp mind, celebrating with friends and family. 100 years! Happy Birthday, Dad!" Max Brooks wrote in his post.

With this milestone, Brooks joins fellow Hollywood icon Dick Van Dyke, who also turned 100 in December, as a centenarian in the entertainment industry.

Brooks, known for classic films such as "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein," began his career in the 1950s. He is one of a select group of entertainers to achieve EGOT status, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. His 1974 satirical Western comedy "Blazing Saddles" was recently named "the funniest film of all time" by the American Film Institute.

He added, "Today we celebrate 100 years of his life and legacy. He has made us laugh and hurt on the big screen, the small screen, the stage and even on our record players."
