Megyn Kelly has publicly criticized Sunny Hostin, a co-host of "The View," following an incident where Hostin's son, Gabriel, was detained for trespassing on train tracks in Westchester County, New York. Bodycam footage revealed Hostin identifying herself to officers as a "View" host and former federal prosecutor in an attempt to prevent her son from receiving a citation.

Kelly, speaking on her SiriusXM show, characterized Hostin's actions as hypocritical, noting Hostin's frequent discussions about privilege on "The View." Kelly suggested that Hostin's son may have benefited from his mother's public profile and success, questioning whether his admission to Harvard was based solely on merit. "Most people's kids didn't go to Harvard. Do you think her child got into Harvard completely on merit, or do you think she might have played the Sunny Hostin ‘View’ card to help him along?" Kelly stated.

Gabriel Hostin, 24, was stopped by officers around 8 p.m. on June 16 for walking on active railroad tracks, in violation of posted signs. He told officers he entered the area through an open gate while running and did not intend to trespass. Hostin arrived at the scene shortly after and identified herself to the officers, describing her son as a Harvard graduate who teaches geometry to children in the South Bronx and has no prior criminal record.

Despite Hostin's pleas, officers issued Gabriel a trespass violation ticket, explaining that it was an arrestable offense. An officer stated that the citation was being issued to de-escalate the situation, noting Gabriel's cooperation and background. Gabriel Hostin is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.

According to reports, Sunny Hostin is representing her son in the case and has sent a letter to the prosecutor requesting dismissal. In the letter, Hostin argued that her son, a Harvard graduate with no criminal history, was an avid runner and believed the area was accessible. She stated that dismissal would prevent unnecessary consequences for an "honest mistake."
