Megyn Kelly has criticized comedian and television producer Larry David, creator of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and co-creator of "Seinfeld," for calling an outdoor UFC event hosted by Donald Trump a "travesty." David made the remarks to a Variety reporter on a Los Angeles red carpet on Tuesday, stating that the event made him "embarrassed to be an American."

Appearing on her web show on Wednesday, Kelly, while expressing admiration for "Curb Your Enthusiasm," stated, "I just wish he would stop with the political, over-the-top stuff." She suggested that David, who she noted lives in affluent areas like Beverly Hills or Bel Air, was out of touch and "turn[ing] his nose up" at a sport she described as inherently "American."

David, 78, had called the UFC event, staged on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, "embarrassing." Kelly, who stated she dislikes violence and combat sports, countered that David's reaction was not indicative of a class difference, noting his reported net worth of approximately $400 million.

David, 78, labeled Donald Trump's outdoor UFC event earlier this month 'a travesty' on Tuesday, saying it was 'embarrassing' it was held outside the White House

This is not the first time David has publicly expressed strong opinions regarding figures associated with Donald Trump. In 2021, David reportedly called lawyer Alan Dershowitz "disgusting" for his support of Trump after an encounter on Martha's Vineyard. Dershowitz confirmed this interaction in a 2022 interview.

David's latest remarks came at the premiere of his new sketch-comedy series about the Founding Fathers, produced by Higher Ground Productions, Barack and Michelle Obama's company. The show is set to release on July 4. Notably, Cheryl Hines, who plays David's TV wife on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former member of the Trump administration. Hines stated in December that she had lost contact with David after the series finale of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in April 2024.
