Megyn Kelly Criticizes AG James' Appointment in Cornell Case

Megyn Kelly has voiced sharp criticism of New York Governor Kathy Hochul's appointment of Attorney General Letitia James to lead the investigation into the "Cornell 7" gang rape case. Kelly, speaking on her show, characterized the appointment as a politically motivated decision that could prejudice the case against the seven male students.

Kelly described James as a "rabid, fire-breathing hack" and suggested that Hochul appointed someone "even more abhorrent and hateful than she is" to handle the case. The conservative commentator stated that the appointment means "these boys are f’d!"

Her remarks came after James, in a social media post, expressed sympathy for the alleged victim, identified as Jane Doe, in the case. James referred to the suspected crimes as "horrific and unacceptable" and stated, "We stand with you." Kelly pointed to this post as evidence that James had already "chosen a side" before beginning her investigation into the alleged October 2024 incident at the Chi Phi fraternity house.

Kelly also highlighted a moment from Governor Hochul's press conference where James reportedly declined to answer a journalist's question regarding her Facebook post. Kelly expressed dismay at this exchange, stating, "This is so f–ked up! That’s the woman who is now going to decide whether charges are brought against the Cornell 7."

The case gained national attention after Jane Doe filed a civil suit against the seven fraternity brothers last month. Kelly, however, appeared to downplay the severity of the alleged actions, referring to them as potentially stemming from "a night of debauchery." She expressed concern for the young men, noting that some may have sent "stupid, offensive texts."
