Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was seen wearing Princess Diana's diamond and sapphire earrings while attending an event with Prince Harry in Victoria, British Columbia. The couple was present to support their friend, music producer David Foster, at his foundation's 40th Anniversary Celebration on Friday night.

Prince Harry, 41, wore a black tuxedo with a bow tie, while Meghan, 45, chose a black one-shouldered maxi gown by Canadian designer Greta Constantine. The sapphire earrings, previously owned by Princess Diana, complemented Meghan's updo hairstyle.

Meghan has a collection of jewelry from Princess Diana's personal collection and has worn items from it on previous public occasions. These include butterfly earrings and a matching cuff bracelet, a diamond tennis bracelet, a Cartier Tank Louis watch, and Diana's aquamarine ring.

David Foster, a Canadian-American composer and record producer, has received 16 Grammy Awards and 45 nominations throughout his career. He and his wife, actress and singer Katherine McPhee, have a long-standing friendship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. McPhee and Markle attended the same school, and McPhee's husband has been described as having a "father and son"-like relationship with Prince Harry.

In 2019, Foster assisted the couple by arranging for them to stay at a friend's property on Vancouver Island, noting at the time his desire to help them find a place for respite. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously been photographed on a double date with Foster and McPhee.
