Meghan Markle Told Estranged Father He Would Never See Grandchildren Amid Abuse Allegations

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, informed her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., that he would never meet his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, and that she was aware of allegations of child abuse against him. The letter was sent approximately a year ago while Markle Sr. was recovering in a Philippine hospital following the amputation of his leg.

The correspondence revealed that Scotland Yard had alerted Meghan seven years prior to the disturbing child sex abuse claims concerning her father. These claims were reportedly brought to light by a letter from his late first wife, Roslyn Loveless. Authorities in the Philippines are now investigating Thomas Markle Sr. for allegedly hoarding child sex images, with preliminary findings pointing towards potential gross sexual offenses.

Meghan has been estranged from her father since 2018, the year he was unable to attend her wedding to Prince Harry due to a reported heart attack. King Charles III ultimately walked Meghan down the aisle.

Thomas Markle Sr., 82, has denied sleeping with underage girls, though he admitted to paying for sex while living in the Far East. He has stated his intention to clear his name and has never had sex with anyone under 18. He relocated to Cebu City, Philippines, from Mexico last year and is currently in a Florida nursing facility recovering from his leg amputation in December.

Meghan stated in a public message that the allegations, which she was assured were being investigated, were the reason behind her decision to keep her children from her father. She expressed deep distress over the news and her thoughts were with any potential child victims. She added that her hope was for justice and the protection of children.

Her half-brother, Tom Markle Jr., claimed to have discovered a significant collection of child sex abuse material on computers and phones belonging to their father. He described finding "vile" images and a screensaver with hundreds of child sexual pictures. Philippine authorities have collected evidence for analysis, with the FBI also aware of the allegations and prepared to investigate any violations of U.S. law.

Thomas Markle Sr. has disputed the claims, suggesting that if any inappropriate material was found on his devices, it was placed there by someone else, as his computer and phones had been in storage for an extended period. He asserted that he has always dated age-appropriate women.

The Metropolitan Police acknowledged that they failed to pass on details of alleged offenses outside the UK to other law enforcement agencies seven years ago and are considering referring themselves to the police watchdog. Housing Secretary Angela Rayner commented on the situation, acknowledging the difficulty for Meghan as a mother trying to protect her children amidst intense public scrutiny.
