Meghan Markle’s Phone Number Leaked in School WhatsApp Group, Sparking Security Concerns
The Duchess of Sussex joined a parent chat for her children's new school, only for her personal number to be shared.
Meghan Markle experienced a security alert after her personal mobile number was leaked within a school parents' WhatsApp group. The incident occurred the night before her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were set to begin their first day at a UK school.
According to The Sun, Markle had joined the group chat and exchanged greetings with other mothers. One message reportedly read, “Welcome to Meghan who has Archie joining tomo,” followed by another welcoming message. Markle responded, “Hi moms! Thanks for the warm welcome ❤️ So happy to be a part of this community xx.”
The reported leak comes shortly after Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, made the decision to abruptly withdraw their children from the school after only two days of attendance due to security concerns. Reports indicated that heavy traffic to and from the school was straining the couple's security detail.
A representative for the couple stated, “The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.” An insider added that while security checks had been conducted at the school prior to the term, the school run itself had not been tested.
This incident also follows reports that Markle has been granted her first government-backed security review. Both Markle and Prince Harry are expected to undergo official risk assessments and have been asked to provide details of their daily routines to the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC).
