Meghan Markle's Father Under Investigation for Child Sex Abuse Images

Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is reportedly under investigation by a child sex abuse task force in the Philippines. The investigation is said to stem from allegations that Markle was in possession of child sex abuse images.

Meghan Markle stated in a recent interview that she was first made aware of allegations concerning her father after her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. She expressed that she had to cut contact with him to protect her children, Archie and Lilibet, from the "disturbing" probe.

According to reports, the FBI is also considering its next steps in relation to the investigation. Meghan has stated she is "deeply distressed" by the allegations against her father.

This news comes as the Duchess of Sussex has been promoting her new holiday products, including candles and a hamper, through her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, formerly known as The Tig. The holiday collection was highlighted in an Instagram video, featuring items such as a $535 hamper and a $75 candle, alongside promotional material for her rebranded business.

Amanda Platell, a columnist, noted the timing of these reports, suggesting that while she has been critical of Meghan in the past, the situation with her father may offer a new perspective on the Duchess's personal struggles. "I have been among their harshest critics and yes, I have accused them – perhaps wrongly with the benefit of hindsight – of abandoning Meghan’s father," Platell wrote, questioning if this is the moment to feel sympathy for Meghan.

This situation unfolds against a backdrop of ongoing media attention for the Sussexes, including Prince William's recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which some experts suggest was a response to the media activities of Prince Harry and Meghan. The Duchess has also been seen promoting her new holiday collection, which includes items with a reported total value of over $149,000, such as a £41,000 emerald necklace and a £25,000 bracelet attributed to Princess Diana.
