Meghan Markle's Donation to Malala Fund Estimated to Be Modest
Analysis suggests proceeds from Duchess's jam and tea sales to Malala Fund were less than the cost of her attire.
Meghan Markle announced last week that she would donate a day's proceeds from her California-based brand, As Ever, to the Malala Fund, the charity founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai. The announcement followed a meeting between the two.
However, an estimate by Alison Boshoff suggests the amount donated may be significantly less than the price of the Duchess's own clothing. According to sales data from January 4-5, Meghan's best-selling 'Signature Fruit Spread Gift Box,' priced at $42 (£31.70), sold only two jars of orange marmalade. Her 'As Ever candle No84,' which costs $64 (£48), reportedly made no sales during that period. This limited sales activity suggests a modest contribution to the Malala Fund.
The estimated donation from a single day of proceeds is likely less than the cost of the ensemble Meghan wore to the meeting, which included a $1,200 (£900) The Row cream knit top and $1,700 (£1,280) wide-leg trousers.
