Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has reportedly been offered an acting role in the United Kingdom, potentially marking a return to her former career nearly a decade after she paused it. Entertainment sources told Australia's News.com.au that the unnamed project is based in the UK, and sources close to the Duchess did not deny the reports when contacted by BBC News.

This development comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex prepare to relocate their family to Britain. The couple's decision to move back to the UK was reportedly shared with King Charles III just three days before the news became public. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have already been enrolled in British schools, and the family plans to reside in a non-royal residence outside of London. The Sussexes will maintain their homes in California and Portugal.

Markle, who was known for her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits for seven seasons, ended her acting career in 2018 after marrying Prince Harry and joining the Royal Family. At the time, she stated in a joint interview that she saw it as a transition, allowing her to focus more energy on causes she cared about. "I don't see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change. It's a new chapter," she said in 2017.

Despite pausing her acting career, Markle has remained in the public eye through various projects. She appeared in several Netflix series as part of the couple's $100 million deal, including two seasons of her lifestyle show 'With Love, Meghan' and the documentary 'Harry & Meghan.' More recently, she made a guest appearance as a judge on MasterChef Australia after filming an episode in Melbourne in April. She also has a small cameo as herself in the upcoming U.S. film 'Close Personal Friends.'

Before her marriage to Prince Harry, Markle had roles in television shows such as CSI: Miami and Fringe, as well as films like Get Him To The Greek, Remember Me, and Horrible Bosses. She also appeared as a 'briefcase girl' on the game show Deal Or No Deal. Her last acting role was in Suits, with her final episode airing in 2018.

The Sussexes' relocation to the UK follows their departure from royal duties more than six years ago during the 'Megxit' crisis. The King has expressed a desire to spend more time with the family but remains firm that they will not resume roles as working royals. The specific security arrangements and whether taxpayers will fund them remain undisclosed, with Prime Minister Andy Burnham describing it as a private matter.
