Meghan Markle has earned a surprise Daytime Emmy nomination for her Netflix cooking series, "With Love, Meghan," a project that was axed in January 2026.
The nomination comes eight years after Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, declined an invitation to the Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. At the time of the invitation, shortly after her marriage into the Royal Family, sources claimed her decision was a deliberate move to create a distinction between her acting career and her new role as a senior royal.
"With Love, Meghan" launched on Netflix in March 2025, coinciding with the unveiling of her lifestyle brand As Ever. The series, filmed at a rented mansion near her Montecito home, featured hosting tips and cooking lessons. A second season and a Christmas special followed, but the show received largely negative reviews and failed to rank among Netflix's top 1,000 most-watched programs, according to viewing figures released by the streaming service.
Despite the critical reception, the show has been nominated in the outstanding lifestyle programme category. It will compete against NBC's "George to the Rescue" and Hallmark's "The Motherhood."
Markle's previous connection to the Emmys dates back to her time on the legal drama "Suits." While she was considered for an Emmy nomination for her role as Rachel Zane in her final season, she did not receive a nod.
"With Love, Meghan" was part of the multi-million dollar deal Meghan and Prince Harry signed with Netflix after stepping down as senior working royals in 2020. The second season of the show reportedly garnered two million views between July and December 2025, ranking as the 1,124th most-watched show during that period.
In January 2026, Netflix canceled the series, with critics notably panning the Christmas special. One review described the holiday episode as "tectonically tacky" and "unlikeable."
Following the show's cancellation, Markle transitioned to full control of her As Ever brand in March 2026, with insiders suggesting she felt Netflix was being too restrictive and desired a more global reach.
In related news, Markle's appearance on "MasterChef Australia" is scheduled to be broadcast later this month. She served as a guest judge, challenging contestants to create a dish fit for a Duchess using seasonal ingredients. Markle stated her participation was motivated by her love for food and Australia.
