Meghan Markle Receives "Beautiful" UK Welcome, Friend Claims
A close friend of Meghan Markle says the Duchess has experienced a warm reception from the British public since her return to the UK.
Meghan Markle has experienced a "beautiful" reception from the British public since her return to the United Kingdom, according to her best friend, Kelly McKee Zajfen. Zajfen, who has been staying with Prince Harry and Meghan in the Cotswolds, stated that people they have encountered have repeatedly told the Duchess how much she has been missed.
Zajfen shared photos on Instagram, including one of Markle smiling while holding her son, Jack, in a country pub. Other images showed Prince Harry playing with the baby and Zajfen playing mahjong with Markle and close friend Markus Anderson. Zajfen described Markle as her "bestie" and expressed gratitude for the "loving" welcome they received, adding that Markle "missed you too."
Zajfen, who has known Markle for over 20 years, noted that her visit with her young son, Jack, was "family time." The two friends first met through Markle's ex-husband, Trevor Engelson.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry recently spoke about the "most British things" he and his family do since moving back to the UK. Speaking at the WellChild Awards in London, Harry mentioned that his children, Archie and Lilibet, now enjoy Marmite on crumpets, a spread he kept in their home even when living in California. He also noted that going for "lots of walks" is a quintessential British activity for his family.
Harry recounted how his children used to tease him for having Marmite but now embrace it. He also mentioned that he had previously tried beans on toast while in California, but it "didn't go down very well at all."
During his speech at the WellChild Awards, Prince Harry became emotional discussing how fatherhood has changed his perspective on the event, which celebrates seriously ill children and their families. He expressed gratitude for having children who are not sick. Harry also shared a relatable moment from breakfast that morning, where Archie and Lilibet experienced "Monday blues" before school, which he addressed by discussing his upcoming appearance at the awards ceremony.
Harry and Meghan, who returned to the UK with Archie and Lilibet in August, aim to use their work to help their children understand the lives of others. Harry stated that not being "5,000 miles away" should make it easier for them to support charities they are passionate about.
