Meghan Markle Embraces "Stealth Wealth" Fashion in Burgundy Ensemble

Meghan Markle has adopted a new fashion persona, recently appearing in a sophisticated burgundy outfit that has been described as a "textbook lesson in fashionable tonal dressing." This contrasts with her earlier public appearances as a working royal.

Nearly nine years after her first official outing with Prince Harry in Nottingham as an engaged couple in 2017, Markle's style has evolved. At that time, she opted for a more conventional look, wearing a tailored navy coat, a black turtleneck, a beige midi skirt, and over-the-knee boots, accessorized with a Strathberry handbag that quickly sold out. Her ensemble then was described as "smartly, safely and exactly as you would expect a royal-couple-in-waiting to dress."

In her latest appearance, Markle sported a £1,495 mahogany-colored cashmere coat by Joseph, a £345 dark brown crew neck top also from Joseph, and a £175 plum split pencil skirt by The Fold. The outfit was cinched with a £26 belt from Marks & Spencer and paired with a £695 espresso mini woven leather bag from Joseph, highlighting her support for British labels.

Her footwear for this occasion was a pair of £650 Jennifer Chamandi rich brown high-heeled Lorenzo 105 pumps. Markle, who previously mentioned discomfort with the expectation to wear tights, appeared bare-legged in her heels. The overall aesthetic has been characterized as "fashionably understated in stealth wealth gradations of brown and wine."

Prince Harry, in contrast to his more formally dressed appearance in 2017, was seen with his coat and scarf off, suggesting a more relaxed approach to his attire, though he appeared less overtly smiley than during their earlier visit.

This shift in style suggests a departure from the more conservative choices made during her initial years as a public figure, signaling a new chapter in her fashion narrative.
