Meghan Markle Cites Child Porn Allegations Against Father as Reason for Cutting Ties

Meghan Markle stated on Friday that she was "deeply disturbed" by child pornography allegations against her father, Thomas Markle Sr., revealing these claims as the reason she cut off contact with him eight years ago.

In a statement to The Post, Markle said, "I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed."

She explained that in 2018, a letter containing these allegations was sent to London's Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection, and that this letter was subsequently shared with her. "I was given assurances that these were being investigated," she added.

Markle expressed hope that her decision to distance herself from her father and prevent him from contacting their children would now be understood. "any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children was for one reason: to protect them," she said.

She concluded by stating, "I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families. Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children."

The allegations surfaced after Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., reportedly discovered "hundreds if not thousands" of images within four boxes at Markle Sr.'s home in Cebu, Philippines. Markle Jr. subsequently reported his father to authorities and contacted the FBI, who are reportedly planning their own investigation. Markle Sr. has denied the claims, calling them "sick lies."
