The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, described pregnancy as the "most beautiful time of your life" to expectant singer Pia Toscano at a charity gala in Victoria, Canada. The event honored music mogul David Foster and his foundation, which supports families of children needing organ transplants.

Toscano, who performed at the gala, recounted that Markle touched her stomach while sharing the sentiment. Prince Harry also reportedly assisted Toscano by moving a chair for her.

Markle, 45, and Prince Harry attended the gala in Canada, where Foster, 76, and his wife, actress and singer Katharine McPhee, 42, are based. Foster and McPhee have known the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for some time, with McPhee having attended school with Markle. Foster previously helped the couple find a secluded estate on Vancouver Island in 2019.

Markle has two children: Archie, born in May 2019, and Lilibet, born in June 2021. She has previously spoken about her experiences with motherhood, including in her 2022 podcast "Archetypes." In one episode, she discussed feeling "so tired" during her pregnancies, while also commending Serena Williams for her portrayal of pregnancy.

During her second pregnancy, which was announced on Valentine's Day nearly two years after Archie's birth, the couple conducted their interview with Oprah Winfrey. Markle maintained a low public profile during that pregnancy, participating in virtual calls due to the pandemic. Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021.
