Reality television personality Megan McKenna described experiencing a humiliating incident where she was denied entry to a BRIT Awards afterparty. McKenna recounted the event on the "Great Company With Jamie Laing" podcast, stating that after enjoying the awards ceremony in Manchester, she and her manager attempted to attend a Warner Records afterparty.

Upon arriving at the venue, McKenna said she was photographed by paparazzi and then informed by security that she was not permitted to enter. She stated that a security staff member told her, "someone from above has text us and your name is on the list that are not allowed in." Despite her attempts to reason with the staff, she was ultimately refused entry, leading her to describe the experience as "belittling" and "horrible."

McKenna also shared an account of a distressing encounter in her hotel lobby after the party incident, where a man recognized her and made a comment about her appearance on television. "Cor, you used to look well better on TV," the man reportedly said. This comment, coupled with the earlier rejection, contributed to her feeling that the evening was ruined.

Separately, McKenna detailed a traumatic home burglary that occurred approximately two years prior, which influenced her decision to move to Germany with her husband, footballer Oliver Burke, and their son. She described waking up to find masked intruders inside her home, armed with machetes and baseball bats, who were attempting to break into her dressing room. McKenna stated she called the police and, despite their instructions to remain quiet, eventually confronted the intruders to protect her dog. During the confrontation, she reported that one of the burglars took jewelry from her while she was naked and had cut her foot.

McKenna, who now works as an influencer and continues her music career, characterized the burglary as a targeted event that instilled fear in her about living alone in the UK.
