Healthy meal company Foxes Den has severed its partnership with Sam Wood, a former star of The Bachelor Australia, following his arrest and subsequent charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting. The decision was announced Monday, with the company stating its intent to step away from the partnership "effective immediately."
Wood, 46, was arrested on Saturday night at a Noosa property on the Sunshine Coast after police responded to reports of an incident. He was formally charged on Sunday.
DBG Health, the parent company of Wood's fitness business '28 By Sam Wood', also announced on Monday that Wood had been stood down indefinitely. "DBG Health has zero tolerance for domestic violence," a spokesperson for the company stated. "While the matter is under investigation and before the court, Sam Wood is on indefinite leave from his duties."
Wood is scheduled to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday to apply for bail. His lawyer, Matthew Cuskelly, confirmed the bail application and stated that Wood intends to defend the charges.
A statement from the Wood family, shared on social media, indicated they are "working through this as a family and are thoroughly co-operating with the authorities." Wood's wife, Snezana, who he met on The Bachelor, also shared the statement, marking her first public comment since the arrest.
Wood gained national recognition as the star of the third season of The Bachelor Australia in 2015. He subsequently launched the online fitness platform '28 By Sam Wood', which he reportedly sold in 2022 but continued to be its public face. Foxes Den, a family-run company founded in 2011, focused on ready-made meals. Wood had previously been pictured with the company's founders at their Melbourne factory.
