McRib Returns to McDonald's for Limited Time, But Availability Varies by City

The McDonald's McRib sandwich is making a limited-time return to menus across the United States, with availability beginning Oct. 27. However, the popular item will not be offered at all locations, with certain cities excluded from the rollout.

Customers can check the McDonald's app to determine if restaurants in their vicinity are serving the McRib. The company confirmed to Fox News Digital that cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Dallas will have the sandwich available. Specific details on which other locations are participating were not immediately clear.

McDonald's senior marketing director Guillame Huin announced the return with a post on X, stating, "Welcome back, legend!"

The McRib was originally invented in 1981 by René Arend. It was discontinued as a permanent menu item in 2012 but has since returned annually as a limited-time offering, a trend that has continued since 2020, according to the New York Post. Last year, the McRib reappeared in select areas in mid-November, following a nationwide return in late November 2024.

The polarizing sandwich consists of a boneless pork patty, barbecue sauce, onions, and pickles on a toasted bun. Fan reactions on social media platforms like Reddit indicate a divided opinion, with some expressing strong loyalty and others remaining indifferent.

The duration of the McRib's limited-time availability has not been specified, prompting those interested to act quickly.
