McDonald's Australia to Host Free Music Festival for Charity
The fast-food giant is transforming a restaurant into a music venue for McHappy Day, featuring Australian DJs Stace Cadet and Yolanda Be Cool.
McDonald's Australia is set to host its first McHappy Day Festival, a one-day free music event aimed at raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Australia. The festival will take place on Saturday, November 14, at a yet-to-be-disclosed restaurant location.
Headlining the event will be Australian DJs Stace Cadet and Yolanda Be Cool, who will perform exclusive sets between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Entry to the festival will be free, with attendees encouraged to make donations to support Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides accommodation and support services for families of seriously ill or injured children. The event also promises family-friendly activities, including face painting and temporary tattoos.
Stace Cadet, known for his hit song 'Energy,' has a personal connection to the cause, as his son underwent cancer treatment. "As a parent who's experienced the challenges that come with a child's serious illness, you never forget the people and support that help you through the toughest moments," he stated. "That's why McHappy Day Festival means a lot to me. It's incredible to see music being used to bring people together for such an important cause, helping Ronald McDonald House Australia continue supporting families when they need it most."
Yolanda Be Cool, famous for their 2010 hit 'We No Speak Americano,' expressed excitement about performing in an unconventional venue. "We've played some pretty unusual venues over the years, but a Macca's festival is a first," the duo commented. "We can't wait to get behind the decks, soak up the atmosphere and be part of a really fun and important day for the community."
The McHappy Day Festival coincides with McDonald's annual McHappy Day fundraiser. This year's fundraiser includes limited-edition merchandise, such as Silly Socks featuring Grimace and Hamburglar for $6.50, and new Stonewash Cool Caps for $9.95. Customers can also contribute by purchasing a Big Mac on McHappy Day or making a donation at participating restaurants.
Since its inception in Australia in 1991, McHappy Day has raised over $83 million for Ronald McDonald House Australia. The charity supports more than 89,000 families annually by providing accommodation, family rooms, educational programs, and other services to help families stay close to their children during medical treatment. Further details regarding the festival's specific location are expected to be announced closer to the event date.
