Mayor Zohran Mamdani has already amassed $304,000 for his 2029 re-election campaign, with 61% of the contributions originating from outside the state. The filings, covering fundraising over the past six months, show individual donations to Mamdani's campaign averaged $52 in the last month.

Mamdani's campaign manager, Celia Castellan, stated that the mayor will not participate in the city's matching funds program, which typically provides an 8-to-1 match for donations under $2,500 using public funds. "6,000 donors. One shared goal. With an average donation of just $45, everyday supporters are fueling the Mayor’s re-election campaign — proof that this is bigger than politics as usual," Castellan said in a statement. She described the campaign as "a movement."

Mamdani previously set fundraising records in 2025, collecting hundreds of thousands in individual contributions for his campaign that year. He ultimately reached the fundraising cap of $8.1 million, including matching funds, by March 2025, three months prior to the Democratic primary.

Following the latest filing period, Mamdani's campaign has approximately $100,000 on hand. The campaign reported spending $204,000 on staff and consultants in the initial fundraising period.
