Maye Musk, author of "Timeless: The Art of Reinvention and Resilience at Any Age," shared her favorite romance novels, tracing her affection for the genre back to childhood bonding with her daughter, Tosca.
"After my divorce … We’d bundle up under blankets, rent a romance movie, and watch it together while eating fried chicken and ice cream," Musk told Page Six. "Naturally, many of my favorite books are ones I first enjoyed on the page before getting to see their stories come alive on screen."
This shared enthusiasm for romance stories inspired Tosca Musk to create Passionflix, a streaming service dedicated to adapting romance novels into films. "The authors are often involved in the process, and fans get to see the characters and stories they love brought to life the way they imagined them," Maye explained.
Musk highlighted six specific romance novels that she highly recommends:
"Hollywood Dirt" by Alessandra Torre
Musk described this book as a "funny, easy-to-read romance about a Hollywood star who arrives in a small Southern town and meets a sharp-tongued local woman who isn’t remotely impressed by him." She noted that this was Tosca's first Passionflix film, making it particularly meaningful to her. Musk even visited the set in Atlanta.
"The Protector" by Jodi Ellen Malpas
This novel is characterized as a "bodyguard romance filled with drama, danger and suspense." Musk expressed her enjoyment of the book and mentioned attending its premiere in London.
"Black Dagger Brotherhood" series by J.R. Ward
Musk described this series as offering "Vampire romance, action and drama." She finds each book "completely riveting" and praises the male characters.
"Royally Screwed" by Emma Chase
This book is a "charming romance about a prince and the waitress who catches his attention." Musk appreciates its combination of "heart, wit and plenty of chemistry."
"A Lover's Vow" by Brenda Jackson
Musk calls this a "thrilling romance that brings together danger, family, business, legacy and, of course, love." She notes its suspenseful nature keeps readers engaged.
"Beauty from Pain" by Georgia Cates
Set in Australia, this romance features a wealthy winemaker who falls in love. Musk characterizes it as "glamorous, emotional, and full of drama," an ideal escape.
