Maya Jama, host of the reality competition show "Celebrity Traitors," shared a series of striking images on her Instagram account on Monday, including a nude photograph of herself in an outdoor bathtub. This social media activity comes amid reports of significant tension and conflict among the show's celebrity contestants, which sources claim has spilled over into their real-life interactions.
The photo dump also featured Jama in a Vivienne Westwood corset and pigtails, taking a mirror selfie, as well as pictures from nights out. Jama herself is participating as a contestant in the current season of "Celebrity Traitors" and has so far avoided being identified as a Traitor.
Reports suggest that behind the scenes of the BBC One show, the atmosphere is far from harmonious, with contestants reportedly "at each other's throats." Unlike the previous season, which was described as more lighthearted, this season's filming in Scotland was characterized by stress and "utter paranoia" among the participants. Insiders attribute this heightened tension to difficult decisions made at the round table, leading to the elimination of several contestants, including actress Myha'la and former "Coronation Street" star Julie Hesmondhalgh.
One source told The Mail on Sunday that the environment was "tense" and that contestants found it difficult to disconnect from the game even when in their private lodgings. "They were constantly thinking about the game," the source added. The pressure reportedly affected some contestants significantly. Comedian James Acaster, identified as a Traitor, became visibly distressed, expressing that he was "not good at lying" and wishing to remain a Faithful. The intensity of his anxiety at one point required filming to be paused, with BBC bosses later emphasizing their commitment to contestant welfare.
Even comedian Rob Beckett, known for his high energy, reportedly struggled at times, surprising his co-stars with his behavior under the intense filming conditions. Other participants, such as Ross Kemp, have also found the game's psychological demands challenging. The report indicates that some contestants found it difficult to reconcile the game's demands with their real-world personas, with their agents and publicists having no direct contact or influence during filming until their departure from the show.
The series features a cast including Jerry Hall, Richard E. Grant, James Blunt, Ross Kemp, Michael Sheen, Rob Beckett, Sharon Rooney, Joanne McNally, Amol Rajan, King Kenny, Sebastian Croft, Maya Jama, Miranda Hart, Romesh Ranganathan, James Acaster, Bella Ramsey, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Joe Lycett, Hannah Fry, Julie Hesmondhalgh, and Myha'la.
