Maya Jama Reconnects with Ex Stormzy Amidst Relationship Reports
The television presenter has refollowed rapper Stormzy on Instagram and was seen singing along to one of his songs, months after her split from footballer Ruben Dias.
Maya Jama, the host of Love Island, has refollowed her ex-boyfriend Stormzy on Instagram and was recently observed singing one of his songs while driving. This development comes five months after her separation from Portuguese footballer Ruben Dias.
Jama, 32, and Stormzy, 33, were in a relationship from 2015 to 2019. They briefly rekindled their romance in August 2023 before parting ways again in July 2024. Shortly thereafter, Jama began a relationship with Dias, 29, which concluded earlier this year.
It was reported this week that Jama has again followed Stormzy on social media, having previously unfollowed him after their 2024 breakup. A recent clip shared on Jama's Instagram stories showed her singing along to Stormzy's hit song "One Second." The lyrics she mouthed included, "I could tell you stories 'bout my life. I've seen hope and I've seen struggle through these eyes. So give me just one second of your time."
Maya Jama and Manchester City defender Ruben Dias ended their 18-month relationship in May, just four months after moving into a home together in Cheshire.
Following their split, both Jama and Dias removed traces of each other from their social media accounts. Sources indicated that the couple decided to end their relationship as it had "run its course," with both individuals prioritizing their demanding careers.
Jama publicly addressed the breakup, stating, "I'm an all or nothing girl... I will love loudly or not at all." She further elaborated in response to a podcast discussion about her relationship, "Truth is even when I tried to keep my relationships private we get photographed anyway, I'm an all or nothing girl, I don't casually date, so yes I will love loudly or not at all and if it ends it ends, I decided a long time ago not to base personal life decisions on public opinions."
After the separation from Jama, Dias faced accusations of sending late-night follow requests to several influencers while still involved with Jama. However, Dias refuted these claims, asserting that he did not cheat and that Jama "deserves all the respect in the world."
He addressed the accusations in a statement, saying, "I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not."
Dias added, "Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard. A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn't cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world."
He concluded, "The reasons why we broke up are private and belong to us and we've both dealt with it in a very mature way. I've always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only. But I also believe it's wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait. Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end."
