Maya Jama Defends 'Honey Monster' Coat on Celebrity Traitors, Parties in Paris
The Love Island host playfully addressed fan comparisons to the Sugar Puffs mascot while showcasing a glamorous LBD at a Paris Fashion Week event.
Maya Jama has humorously defended the striking, oversized faux fur coat she wore on the latest episode of BBC's Celebrity Traitors, after viewers likened it to the iconic Honey Monster mascot. The Love Island host, who is participating as a Traitor on the show, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday to address the fashion commentary.
During an early scene in the castle, Jama's voluminous, mustard-colored feathered coat drew significant attention, prompting a stream of comparisons from viewers on social media. Comments likened her attire to characters such as Big Bird, The Lorax, and Bungle the bear from the children's show Rainbow, alongside the Sugar Puffs mascot.
Jama responded to the online buzz with a lighthearted post stating, "It was cold as hell in the castle ok?" accompanied by a swan emoji. The playful defense came as Jama was also seen enjoying Paris Fashion Week, attending the EE72 One Year Anniversary Celebration at L'Avenue. There, she opted for a significantly different look, a sleek, low-cut black minidress that highlighted her curves, paired with matching heels and clutch bag.
Her appearance on Celebrity Traitors has already captivated viewers. In the opening episode, actor Richard E. Grant and Jama, as Traitors, eliminated former BBC Radio 4 Today programme host Amol Rajan. The subsequent episode revealed the intense gameplay, with Grant notably confessing his Traitor status to comedian Joe Lycett, a move acknowledged as a bold strategy that could backfire.
The second series of The Traitors UK has seen a record-breaking viewership. The launch episode on Thursday attracted an average of 8.9 million viewers, peaking at over nine million, which marks a significant increase from previous seasons.
