Maxx Crosby and Patrick Mahomes Set to Reignite Rivalry as Undefeated Foes

The highly anticipated matchup between Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to escalate as they face each other undefeated for the first time in their careers. The rivalry between the two prominent NFL figures is on the cusp of a new chapter this Sunday.

Both players expressed anticipation for the upcoming contest. "It’s been a long time since we’ve really got to go, and I know we’re both looking forward to it. I respect the s— out of him," Crosby stated. "He knows what it is; it’s war."

Mahomes, when addressing the media, referenced a memorable moment from their past interactions. He recalled an instance in 2022, which was captured on the Netflix series "Quarterback," where he approached Crosby after rallying from a 17-point deficit. After throwing a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce to give the Chiefs a 30-29 lead, Mahomes was heard saying, "I’m here," and later, "You messed with the wrong motherf—er." He explained the dynamic as "being competitors" who "want to win because you have those bragging rights."

The last encounter between the Raiders and Chiefs in Week 18 of the previous season saw the Raiders win 14-12, though neither Crosby nor Mahomes participated in that game. Crosby underwent knee surgery in the offseason to repair a torn meniscus but has shown a strong return, accumulating 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and five tackles this season. Mahomes, who suffered a torn ACL in mid-December, has also appeared to recover fully, having thrown for 812 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions with a 68.4% completion rate through the first three games.

Their latest clash is scheduled for Sunday at 1:25 p.m.
