Las Vegas Raiders players Maxx Crosby and Kirk Cousins, both fourth-round draft picks, revealed starkly different ways they spent their first NFL paychecks. Cousins purchased a used Honda CRV from his brother, while Crosby invested in a high-end watch.
Crosby described his desire for a "blue-face, bust-down Rolex" with diamonds. His financial advisor presented this as a goal, relating it to achieving 10 sacks. Despite acquiring the watch, Crosby later expressed regret, feeling overcharged and that the watch was too small and poorly constructed. He eventually sold it, but noted the experience served as a lesson in accountability for pursuing goals.
Cousins viewed Crosby's story as a valuable lesson, stating, "You can learn from good examples and bad examples."
The conversation about finances comes after a period of intense on-field interaction between the two. In August, both players were temporarily suspended from team activities following a heated exchange and fight during a practice. The pair reconciled the following day, shaking hands.
Since these incidents, the Raiders have experienced a strong start to their season, winning their first two games. This marks the team's best beginning since 2021, the same year they last appeared in the playoffs.
Cousins has contributed significantly to the team's success, throwing for 413 yards and six touchdowns with a 67.8% completion rate. Crosby, despite undergoing offseason knee surgery, has also performed at a high level, recording 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits.
