Max Verstappen Dominates Influencer Race at Silverstone

Formula 1's Max Verstappen demonstrated his formidable racing prowess by swiftly outmaneuvering 100 influencers and content creators at Silverstone during Red Bull's 'Max vs 100' event. The four-time world champion completed the race in just 14 laps, leaving many participants, including Daily Mail Sport writer Henry Williams, struggling to keep pace.

Williams described the experience as the closest he would ever get to being a professional athlete, a thrill he would not forget. The event, designed by Red Bull to engage a market beyond typical energy drink consumers, saw participants take on Verstappen on a track combining elements of a karting circuit and the Silverstone race course.

Prior to the main race, participants had a practice session, qualifying, and a sprint race. They also competed in a karting simulation against VCARB driver Arvid Lindblad. Williams noted the difference in pressure between practice, where errors could be corrected, and the main event.

During qualifying, Williams encountered traffic, including a slower Dutch streamer and a Red Bull cliff-diving athlete, which hampered his single qualifying lap. He ultimately qualified in 73rd position. The race director issued a clear warning to all participants: 'don't ruin it for everyone by taking out Max Verstappen when he's mid-season.' This rule was reportedly respected by all.

Williams' race came to an abrupt end just two corners in. After navigating the first corner successfully, he witnessed Verstappen cut across the grass to gain an advantage. This maneuver, while effective, resulted in a full course yellow flag. Although Williams naively wondered if Verstappen would be penalized, he was not. Subsequently, Williams and approximately 60 other participants were black-flagged and instructed to return to the paddock, effectively ending his participation after roughly 20 seconds.

In a post-race press conference, Williams recalled asking Verstappen if he had needed to try his best. Verstappen responded, 'I always try my best,' underscoring his relentlessly competitive nature, even against amateurs. Williams acknowledged Verstappen as a great sport and a brilliant competitor, despite the overwhelming skill gap.
