Max Ehrich, former fiancé of singer Demi Lovato, was arrested on August 25 in Florida on charges of possessing nitrous oxide, according to reports from TMZ. The arrest occurred at a shopping center after Ehrich allegedly made and then hung up on a 911 call.

According to an arrest affidavit, police responded to the aborted call and found Ehrich in some bushes. Nearby, officers discovered a container of nitrous oxide, commonly used as a propellant in whipped cream dispensers and recreationally as a drug. The canister was labeled 'Max Cream Charger.'

Police described Ehrich as appearing "dazed" and exhibiting a "lack of balance when standing." The affidavit noted that the canister had a nozzle attached, suggesting it was in use, though Ehrich was not observed inhaling the gas. He reportedly told officers he needed to retrieve medication from his parents' home but felt uncomfortable going there, and denied any intention of self-harm.

Ehrich's parents allegedly informed officers that their son struggles with nitrous oxide addiction, which led to his arrest. He was transported to a hospital due to feeling unwell before being taken to jail. Ehrich was later released on bond.

This arrest follows a previous one in October 2025, when Ehrich was charged with battery on a person 65 or older. Law enforcement sources at the time linked that charge to a domestic violence incident involving his mother. The earlier incident gained public attention following the circulation of a disturbing livestream video that appeared to show Ehrich confronting his mother.

Ehrich, an actor and musician, rose to greater public prominence in March 2020 when he began dating Lovato. They became engaged in July 2020 but ended their engagement two months later.
