Mauricio and Alexia Umansky Detail Grueling Conditions on "Special Forces"

Mauricio and Alexia Umansky, stars of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," have shared details about their experience competing on the Fox series "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test." The father-daughter pair joined a group of celebrities in the jungles of Malaysia for a rigorous program designed by military veterans.

Mauricio Umansky described the conditions in the barracks as challenging, noting, "It’s not the most sanitary thing in the world. We were sleeping on stained cots." Alexia added that the barracks had a metal roof, making it incredibly loud when it rained, and that the bathrooms were rudimentary. "We were given just one bar of soap for our face, our hair, and our body. It was nasty," she recalled. Both siblings mentioned that due to widespread rashes, they initially suspected the presence of bed bugs.

Before embarking on the show, Mauricio did not initially disclose the nature of his absence to most of his colleagues at The Agency, his global luxury real estate firm. "We weren’t telling them what we were doing," he admitted. However, his partners were supportive once they learned about his participation.

Alexia, a real estate agent and marketing specialist at The Agency, felt confident in her team's support. "I knew they were going to have my back. It was nice to have a support system that I could rely on so I could go off and do some crazy adventures," she said.

Kyle Richards, Alexia's mother and Mauricio's estranged wife, expressed concern about their participation. Mauricio recalled her saying, "That’s super dangerous. Be careful." When she learned Alexia would also be competing, her concern escalated into what Mauricio described as a "total freak-out."

Alexia mentioned reaching out to Gia Giudice, who previously competed on "Special Forces" Season 4 and won, for advice. "She definitely made me feel better, especially because she finished the course. She was just so calming and so grounding," Alexia said. Mauricio's wife, Teresa Giudice, also offered reassurance to Kyle Richards.

The Umanskys also commented on their fellow recruits, including George Santos. Mauricio acknowledged Santos's controversial past, stating, "It’s never a good thing to lie, and he paid for that." Alexia mentioned she didn't know who Santos was prior to the show.

Reflecting on the physical challenges, Mauricio described a lengthy, muddy, and swampy trek to base camp, warning recruits about poisonous trees. Alexia recalled the difficult terrain and the struggle to maintain footwear in the mud.

Mauricio expressed immense pride in his daughter's participation. "As a father, to be able to go through something like this with your daughter was incredible. We got to know each other so much better and really support each other," he said. Alexia stated that the experience proved to herself that she possessed more inner strength than she had anticipated. "You think you’re brave, but how many times in your life have you really challenged yourself to find that out?" she questioned.

Both Umanskys anticipate viewers will see emotional moments and true grit in upcoming episodes of "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test."
