Model Gabbriette Bechtel is set to marry Matty Healy this weekend in Los Angeles, a ceremony where Healy's mother, Denise Welch, reportedly feels a sense of relief that her son is not marrying Taylor Swift. According to a close friend of Welch, the intense nature of Swift's fanbase contributed to the difficulties in their past relationship.

Healy and Swift had a brief but highly publicized romance in 2023. Their relationship followed Swift's breakup with Joe Alwyn and preceded her current relationship with Travis Kelce. During their time together, Swift's fans, known as Swifties, reportedly trolled Healy, with Welch expressing that the attention and the perceived public narrative of their relationship caused strain.

"Matty really did love Taylor, but it was her insane fanbase that broke them up," a friend of Welch told a publication.
