Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford shared the locker room's reaction to head coach Sean McVay's viral offseason vacation photos, which showcased McVay's muscular physique. The photos, posted by McVay's wife Veronika Khomyn McVay in June, quickly gained widespread attention on social media.
During a '60 Minutes' interview, Stafford was asked about the images of his coach's abs. "Oh, yeah," Stafford responded. "We all were like, 'We better hit the weight room, because this guy's shredded.' That's the guy I know. He's putting the time and the effort in."
The viral images prompted humorous comments from football fans, with some joking that McVay might be ready to play quarterback himself or was taking inspiration from defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Meanwhile, the Rams are coming off an opening-week 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The team faced criticism for their travel schedule and adherence to Los Angeles time while playing in Australia, where the 49ers arrived earlier to acclimate. San Francisco appeared to be the better-rested team, outgaining the Rams and limiting Stafford to 155 passing yards.
Following the defeat, McVay took responsibility, stating, "They outplayed us in every facet. I didn't do nearly a good enough job. This is a humbling day for us, and this will define us only if we allow it to."
