Matthew Stafford Caught Spitting in Broncos Tunnel After Controversial Rams Loss
Video emerges of Rams quarterback spitting in Denver's tunnel following a contentious game and a 30-26 defeat.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was captured on video spitting in the Denver Broncos' tunnel shortly after the Rams suffered a controversial 30-26 loss on Sunday night. The footage, shared by Bleacher Report’s James Palmer, quickly gained traction online, amassing over 270,000 views and sparking speculation about the target of Stafford's actions.
The video does not definitively show where Stafford's spit landed, leading to various theories among social media users, including speculation that he may have been aiming at the Broncos' "5280" sign, which symbolizes Denver's mile-high elevation. Regardless of the intended recipient, the act has drawn criticism from some Broncos fans.
The Rams' defeat was marked by a controversial pass interference penalty against cornerback Josh Wallace. The penalty negated an interception that could have secured a victory for Los Angeles. Stafford's performance in the game included 390 passing yards and two touchdowns, but was also marred by two interceptions, one of which was returned for a Broncos touchdown.
With this loss, the Rams' record falls to 1-2, and they are now set to face the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles in their next game.
