Matthew Perry's Final Hours: A Detailed Account of His Last Day

The final hours of actor Matthew Perry's life were marked by recreational activities and the use of ketamine, according to reports reconstructing his last day. Perry, 54, was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023.

On the day of his death, Perry engaged in his usual routine. He played pickleball at the Riviera Country Club and later watched a movie. Following these activities, he returned to his residence in the Pacific Palisades, a 3,500-square-foot home. It was there that he took a dip in his hot tub, which ultimately led to his discovery by first responders.

Law enforcement sources indicated that Perry had high levels of ketamine in his system at the time of his death, which the medical examiner concluded was the primary cause. While ketamine is used in therapeutic settings for depression and anxiety, its recreational use, particularly at the levels found in Perry's system, raises concerns. Reports suggest he had been receiving ketamine infusions for treatment, but the dosage found was significantly higher than what would be administered clinically.

Evidence at the scene suggested that Perry's assistant had obtained syringes from a physician and ketamine from an individual identified as Jasveen Sangha, known as ‘The Ketamine Queen’. Sangha was later charged with conspiracy to distribute ketamine following Perry's death. The assistant reportedly obtained the syringes from Salvador Plasencia, a physician from Santa Monica.

The investigation into Perry's death also focused on the timeline and events immediately following the discovery. The 911 call, reporting the hot tub incident, was placed by an assistant who stated Perry was unresponsive. First responders arrived at the scene, and the medical examiner was eventually called. Perry's stepfather, Keith Morrison, was seen at the property after police tape had been established.

Despite claims that Perry was 'pretty safely sober,' evidence indicated he was struggling with substance use and seeking more ketamine than ethically or legally prescribed. The medical examiner's report detailed the presence of multiple drugs in his system, including prescription medications, but ketamine was identified as the principal factor in his death.

Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom 'Friends,' had been open about his struggles with addiction throughout his life. He had undergone numerous rehabilitation programs and spoken about his desire to help others facing similar challenges.

Friends co-stars, including Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer, attended a private ceremony for Perry days after his death, alongside his parents and stepfather. The actor's passing sent shockwaves through Hollywood and among his vast fan base.
