Matthew Perry’s Brother-in-Law Shares Rare Thoughts on Actor's Death Ahead of Netflix Docuseries

Matthew Perry’s brother-in-law, David Bowick, has offered a rare public comment on the "Friends" star's death, coinciding with the release of a new Netflix docuseries about the actor.

Bowick, who married Perry's sister Mia Perry Bowick in August 2023, shared his thoughts on Facebook, noting his brief appearance in the upcoming three-part series, "The One About Matthew Perry."

"I’m in it very briefly, but my lovely wife is in it quite a bit," Bowick wrote. He added that while the world felt it knew Perry, to him, he was simply "brother," recalling Perry's consistent greeting, "Hey, brother."

Bowick also shared a wedding photo featuring himself, his wife Mia, Perry, and his late sister Zoe, who passed away last month at age 46. "Now they’re both gone," Bowick stated, reflecting on the grief of remembering loved ones while they are no longer present.

He mentioned that contributing music to the documentary meant a lot to him, allowing him to play a small part in telling Perry's story. "I don’t have anything particularly profound to say. I just wanted to share this picture of two people I wish were still here. I miss you both so much," he concluded.

Perry was found dead in his hot tub on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. An autopsy later revealed his death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine, with contributing factors including drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine. In August 2024, five individuals were charged in connection with Perry's death from ketamine, with three of them, including Perry's assistant, pleading guilty to drug-related charges.
