Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz Eyed for Top Role at Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery
Sources indicate Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz is being considered for a presidential or co-CEO position at the newly combined media giant.
Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz is reportedly poised to take a significant leadership position within the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery media conglomerate, potentially serving as president or co-CEO of the combined entity, according to sources familiar with the matter. This move follows Mattel's announcement of Kreiz's departure on Wednesday, with Conde Nast CEO Roger Lynch named as his successor.
Kreiz informed Mattel's board that he was leaving for a senior role within the entertainment industry, with one source close to the situation suggesting his motivations include "money, power and status." Another source indicated that Kreiz views himself as a "mogul" and is not seeking a divisional role.
The anticipated appointment comes as David Ellison's entertainment giant nears the completion of its merger, a process that has involved an antitrust review by California Attorney General Rob Bonta. Kreiz cannot officially assume any role at the merged company until a judge approves the settlement with state attorneys general and the deal formally closes on October 5.
Kreiz brings a wealth of experience in the entertainment sector. During his tenure at Mattel, he spearheaded the company's expansion into film, notably overseeing the production of the blockbuster "Barbie." Previously, he served as president of Maker Studios, where he negotiated its sale to Disney. He also held the position of CEO at Endemol, a European production company.
A representative for Paramount declined to comment on the reports. The New York Post was the primary source for this information.
