Matt Zukowski has spoken candidly about the profound grief he experienced following his separation from fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow, revealing he cried daily for months and misses her children dearly. The 31-year-old former reality television star shared his experiences on the Daily Mail's podcast, The Debrief with Savanna Young, marking one year since their split.
Zukowski described the difficulty of leaving Hembrow's three children, whom he had been a stepfather to during their marriage. He expressed that this was one of the most challenging aspects of their separation, leading to daily crying spells for approximately four months. He also mentioned writing letters to the children to explain the situation, though he ultimately chose not to send them as part of his healing process, which included therapy. "I just never sent them, because I don't know what they're being told. So it wouldn't be fair to them," Zukowski stated.
He indicated a desire to see the children again but acknowledged uncertainty about their understanding of the situation and whether he is perceived negatively. "But like I said, I don't know what they've been told. And if I'm the bad guy. I'm happy with that. If that makes them, you know, okay with it and get over it," he explained.
Zukowski also addressed his personal struggles with infertility, which he revealed in 2021 on his podcast, Where's Your Head At?. He learned he had no sperm after a chance comment from an ex-girlfriend about his sperm consistency prompted him to seek medical advice. Specialists informed him that he was born with undescended testicles, a condition that affected sperm production despite childhood surgery.
He noted that he and Hembrow had discussed having children and explored potential IVF options, but these discussions did not progress beyond initial conversations. The couple married in November 2024 in Byron Bay after starting their relationship in late 2023 and becoming engaged in December of the same year. Their separation became public seven months after their wedding.
