CBS News correspondent Matt Gutman has been dropped from a harassment lawsuit filed by a former ABC News colleague. Samira Said, who previously alleged that Gutman made sexualized comments during assignments, filed a request with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday to remove him from the complaint.

It remains unclear why Said decided to drop Gutman from the lawsuit. CBS News, Gutman's current employer, declined to comment on the matter. Gutman was hired by CBS News leadership in October 2025.

Said's original lawsuit named Gutman, ABC News, and its parent company, The Walt Disney Co., as defendants. She had accused Gutman of making inappropriate comments on two separate occasions several years ago. According to the suit, one incident involved Gutman discussing and rating the appearance of a female correspondent with other male crew members, and attempting to solicit Said's opinion, which she reportedly refused, deeming the conversation inappropriate.

The second alleged incident occurred while Said and Gutman were covering a press event. The lawsuit stated that an argument over leaving the work site led to Gutman allegedly making a "sexualized insinuation" about Said in front of coworkers, which she claimed demeaned her and reduced her professional judgment to a "sexualized stereotype."

Said, who worked as an ABC News field producer for four years, is still pursuing a separate wrongful termination lawsuit against ABC News and The Walt Disney Co. She claims she was wrongfully fired in 2025 after experiencing mental health issues.
