Matt Damon has been a prominent figure on the press circuit recently, promoting his role in Christopher Nolan's mythological epic, "The Odyssey." Accompanying him at various events have been his wife, Luciana, and their four daughters, who have increasingly become visible supporters at red carpet premieres.
Damon married Luciana in 2005, having met on the set of "Stuck On You" in 2003. The couple are parents to daughters Isabella, 20; Gia, 17; and Stella, 15. Matt also adopted Luciana's daughter, Alexia, 27, in 2005.
The family was present at the New York premiere of "The Odyssey" this week, and previously attended the film's London premiere and an after-party earlier in July. In a recent interview with People magazine at the New York premiere, Damon shared insights into his family life. He expressed a desire to be mindful of the time with his daughters as they get older, noting, "Having two older kids who are out of the nest and knowing how fast these final years go, we're trying to be mindful of holding onto what we can."
Damon has previously joked about being "outnumbered by girls" in his household, a sentiment he now embraces as his elder daughters begin to move out. He has even commemorated his daughters by getting their names tattooed on his right upper arm.
Reflecting on fatherhood, Damon stated, "It was very different, it's true, but I can't imagine my life having not gone down that road. I can't imagine what my life would be now. I don't want to imagine it." He recalled stepping into a stepfather role for Alexia when she was four years old. Luciana Damon has spoken about her initial hesitation to date Damon due to her daughter, but noted that his acceptance of her role as a mother was a significant factor in their relationship.
Alexia has shown an interest in acting, even making a cameo in Damon's film "We Bought A Zoo." Pedro Pascal recounted how Alexia, while on set during the filming of "The Great Wall," was a discerning viewer of "Game Of Thrones," offering sharp critiques.
Damon and Luciana welcomed Isabella in 2006, Gia in 2008, and Stella in 2010. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family relocated to Ireland, extending their stay when filming for "The Last Duel" was temporarily paused. After production concluded, they moved back to New York City from California.
Damon has previously shared anecdotes about his daughters, including arranging a personalized video message from Harry Styles for his 15-year-old daughter for Christmas. He also recalled an instance when his 17-year-old daughter asked him to brush her hair, a moment that underscored for him how quickly time passes.
