Matt Damon celebrated the premiere of his new film, "The Odyssey," by attending the afterparty with his teenage daughters, Stella, 15, and Gia, 17. The event took place Monday at Oswald's, a private members' club in Mayfair, London.
Damon, who portrays the titular role in the film directed by Christopher Nolan, was accompanied by his wife, Luciana, and all four of their daughters—Alexia, 26; Isabella, 19; Gia, 17; and Stella, 15—at the earlier red carpet premiere. For the afterparty, he was seen with Stella and Gia.
The actor, known for keeping his family life private, rarely brings his wife and daughters to such events, making this a notable public appearance for the family.
Damon plays Odysseus, the Greek King of Ithaca, in the film that chronicles his arduous journey home after the Trojan War. "The Odyssey" is scheduled for release in U.S. and UK cinemas on July 17.
Attending the premiere and afterparty were other members of the film's ensemble cast, including Charlize Theron, who arrived in a red halterneck gown, and Tom Holland and Zendaya, who were seen departing later. Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson were also noted on the red carpet.
Damon described the filming of "The Odyssey" as a challenging experience, comparing it to an expedition. He emphasized the strong team spirit on set, noting that all cast and crew members were treated equally, even in difficult conditions. "If you're out on a boat in the middle of the ocean and you get caught in a storm, you get wet with everybody else," Damon told People. "Nobody's getting a hot beverage that you're not getting. You know what I mean? Everybody's on equal footing, including Chris, who was just as cold and wet as everybody else throughout the whole thing."
He reflected on the rapid passage of time with his daughters, sharing in a January appearance on the New Heights podcast that he cherishes these moments. Damon also spoke about his journey into fatherhood, which began when he met Luciana, a single mother to her daughter Alexia. He adopted Alexia and embraced stepfatherhood before the couple welcomed Isabella, Gia, and Stella.
