Matt Damon and Family Attend Premiere of Ben Affleck's New Film 'Animals' in Mexico
The actor and his wife Luciana Barroso were joined by three of their daughters at the premiere of 'Animals,' a crime thriller produced by Damon and directed by his longtime collaborator Ben Affleck.
Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, brought their family to the premiere of the film 'Animals' in Mexico on Sunday night. The couple, along with three of their four daughters – Alexia, 27; Isabella, 20; and Gia, 18 – walked the red carpet for the event.
Damon, 55, wore a beige suit with a lighter grey top and dark sports coat, while Barroso, 50, donned a shimmering dark grey gown featuring a plunging black lace neckline. Their daughters also attended, with Alexia and Gia in black dresses, and Isabella, who is signed with IMG Models, in a nude pink ensemble. Their youngest daughter, Stella, 15, was not present.
The family has been supportive of Damon's projects, appearing at red carpet events for his summer blockbuster 'The Odyssey.' Damon previously told People magazine that family dinners are a non-negotiable part of their routine.
'Animals,' a Netflix crime thriller, is directed by Damon's childhood friend and collaborator Ben Affleck. Both Damon and Barroso served as producers on the film.
Affleck also attended the premiere, dressed in a forest green suit with a white button-up shirt and an icy blue tie and pocket square. He plays the lead role in the film after a scheduling conflict prevented Damon from taking it. Kerry Washington co-stars as his wife.
Originally, Affleck had considered casting his ex-wife Jennifer Garner in the role of his on-screen wife. He told Entertainment Weekly that he thought Garner would be "amazing for this role" and that it would allow them to see their children more frequently. However, he and Garner decided against it, as acting out a rocky marriage might create unwanted baggage given their past.
"I talked to Jen, and she was like, 'We don’t wanna do that. You just get baggage,'" Affleck recounted. He added that he would still be open to working with Garner in the future, emphasizing their strong friendship and gratitude for their co-parenting relationship.
'Animals' is set to premiere on Netflix on October 9. The film's plot follows the parents of an L.A. mayoral candidate's son who is kidnapped, forcing them to procure a ransom payment within hours. With campaign funds depleted, they must resort to desperate measures, exposing parts of their lives they intended to keep hidden.
