Match of the Day Hosts Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates Reportedly Dating Amidst Ex-Girlfriend's Accusations
The television personalities are said to be in a romantic relationship, following claims by Chapman's former partner that he was dating Cates while they were still together.
Match of the Day presenters Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates are reportedly dating, according to The Sun. The claim comes after Chapman's ex-girlfriend, Clere Collier, accused the 52-year-old presenter of being involved with Cates while they were still a couple.
Chapman and Collier reportedly ended their three-year relationship abruptly in April. Collier, an estate agent and mother of two based in Dubai, stated that she and Chapman had been making future plans, and their relationship was strong. She alleged that after their split, she realized Chapman and Cates were close and confronted him about dating Cates.
Chapman has denied any overlap between the relationships, asserting that he was single when he began spending time with Cates and that he did not cheat. A source close to the situation told The Sun that Collier did not believe Chapman's explanation.
Chapman and Cates took over as the main co-presenters for Match of the Day last season, sharing hosting duties with Gabby Logan. While their on-air schedules for the show do not coincide, they appeared together on Celebrity Gogglebox in July.
Chapman, a BBC broadcaster, previously presented Match of the Day 2 before his promotion. He was married to Sara for 19 years until her death from cancer in 2020. They had three children together. Chapman is believed to have begun dating Collier in 2023.
Cates is the daughter of Scottish football legend Kenny Dalglish. She previously divorced her TV producer husband Tom in 2021, with whom she has two children.
