Match of the Day Hosts Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates Reportedly Dating

Match of the Day co-hosts Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman are reportedly dating, according to news that emerged on Sunday evening. Cates and Chapman have been part of the show's three-person presenter lineup alongside Gabby Logan since the start of the previous season, following Gary Lineker's exit.

The public has widely welcomed the news of their romance, given their popularity. This development in their personal lives comes as both have experienced significant heartbreak in their past relationships.

Chapman, who earns between £335,000 and £340,000 annually as a BBC broadcaster, was married to his wife Sara for 19 years until her death in 2020 at the age of 44 after a battle with cancer. They had three children together.

In 2024, Chapman reportedly began dating estate agent Clere Collier. The couple appeared to be in a stable relationship, with Collier making regular trips to the UK from Dubai. However, they separated in April of this year. A source claimed Collier accused Chapman of dating Cates while they were still together, though Chapman has denied any overlap, stating he was single when he began spending time with Cates.

Cates, the daughter of football icon Sir Kenny Dalglish, was married to TV producer Tom Cates from 2007 until their divorce in 2021. They share two children.

In a March 2021 podcast appearance, Cates spoke about her insecurities regarding dating, expressing doubt about her own attractiveness as a middle-aged mother of two and her reluctance to waste time on unsuitable dates. She noted that unless she wanted to spend the rest of her life alone, she would need to consider dating. Chapman and Cates appeared together on Celebrity Gogglebox in July, and Chapman's involvement with Cates has reportedly shifted her perspective.
