A massive sinkhole has caused significant damage to the driveway and street in front of actor Nicolas Cage's Malibu beachfront mansion. The sinkhole opened up on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, swallowing the driveway of the $10.5 million property and a portable restroom that was on site.

Photos from the scene show the crater encroaching on the lavish home, which Cage purchased in 2024. The property has since been sectioned off with orange construction cones, and workers have been observed assessing the damage. Representatives for Cage have been contacted for comment but had not yet responded.

The luxurious residence, built in the 1990s, is situated in a desirable oceanfront location and features a rooftop deck with a jacuzzi and expansive glass walls. It was previously owned by the late Jose Liberman, co-founder of Liberman Broadcasting, who had described the home as his "happy place."
