A significant inferno broke out at a scrapyard in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on Saturday, prompting a large-scale response from the fire service that continued through the night. The blaze occurred at a site containing scrap metal and tires on Boulder Bridge Lane in the Carlton area.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched multiple crews and ten fire engines to the scene. An aerial ladder platform and several operational support vehicles were also deployed to assist in extinguishing the flames. Video footage shared on social media depicted towering plumes of black smoke billowing hundreds of meters into the sky, visible for miles around.

Firefighters were seen using water hoses to combat the raging inferno. Due to the volume of smoke, the fire service advised residents in nearby areas to keep their doors and windows closed and urged the public to avoid the vicinity.
