A manhunt is underway in Massachusetts for Karen Solomon, 58, who is considered "armed and dangerous" by authorities investigating the death of her husband, a veteran police officer.

Police responded to a call about a medical emergency at the couple's Worcester home on Tuesday and discovered the deceased officer. The local police union identified the officer as 57-year-old Kurt Solomon, a patrolman with the Worcester Police Department who had served for 31 years.

"Kurt was a loved and respected member of our department with 31 years," said Officer Thomas Duffy, President of NEPBA Local 911. "When you serve 31 years with an individual you become more than coworkers, you become family and today we lost a member of our family."

Officials from the Worcester County District Attorney's office stated that state laws regarding domestic violence prevent them from confirming the relationship between Karen Solomon and the deceased officer. However, sources cited by WBZ-TV reported that Kurt Solomon is Karen's husband.

Karen Solomon had previously spoken about her marriage to a Worcester police officer in a 2016 interview with WBZ-TV, during which she discussed an app she was developing for officers in crisis. She was last seen wearing pajama shorts and a tank top in a street near her home.

Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier described Solomon as "presumed to be armed and dangerous." The District Attorney's office is seeking her for questioning in connection with her husband's death.

"You want to do everything you can to find that person as quickly as possible and also find out what happened in the house that evening," said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
