Lindsay Clancy audibly wept in court on Tuesday as a medical examiner described the autopsy of her 8-month-old son, Callan. Dr. Kimberly Springer, the medical examiner, testified for approximately 20 minutes regarding the infant's injuries and cause of death. Clancy, accused of strangling her three children, sobbed throughout much of the testimony. The judge called a recess around 9:45 a.m., having initially indicated a break would occur later in the morning.
Clancy is charged with murdering her three children at their Duxbury home on January 24, 2023. She is alleged to have strangled them with exercise bands before slitting her own wrists and neck and jumping from a second-story window. Clancy, who is now partially paralyzed, appeared in court in a wheelchair.
During the testimony, Springer and the jury were shown photographs from Callan's autopsy. The medical examiner explained that the infant had abrasions on his neck and head. Puncture wounds were also noted, resulting from attempts to insert intravenous fluids at the hospital. Doctors were able to restart Callan's heart, but he remained on life support for three days before being declared brain dead, according to testimony. The judge had previously ruled that the autopsy images would not be made public.
