Massachusetts Acupuncturist Indicted in Murder of Two Children Amid Divorce Battle
Janette MacAusland faces two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly strangling her son and daughter.
A Massachusetts acupuncturist has been indicted for the strangulation murders of her two young children. Janette MacAusland, 49, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Monday by a grand jury.
MacAusland is accused of killing her son Kai, seven, and six-year-old daughter Ella inside the family's $1.5 million Wellesley home on April 24. According to court documents, she allegedly strangled the brother and sister before fleeing to her aunt's home in Vermont, where she was arrested.
At the time of the alleged murders, MacAusland and the children's father, Samuel MacAusland, were reportedly in the midst of a contentious divorce. The legal proceedings involved disputes over child custody and control of the family's three-bedroom home.
