Weston, Massachusetts, police are investigating a suspicious incident after surveillance cameras captured a masked individual wearing a bicycle helmet on private property in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 2. The Weston Police Department released images from the footage and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
The individual was observed on a residential property around 2:30 to 3:30 a.m., approaching a home on Highland Street with a flashlight. Police stated there is no indication the suspect entered the residence, but noted that the individual was masked and on private property during overnight hours.
"Based on the circumstances, we believe the person’s intentions were likely not lawful," the department said in a statement. Surveillance footage showed the person appearing to carry a hunting chair from the property into nearby woods, as well as shining a flashlight at a three-car garage.
Weston, known for its high-value real estate, is located on the outskirts of Boston. Police Chief Denis Linehan described the scene as "creepy" and expressed concern given the individual's masked appearance and extended presence on the property in the early morning.
Authorities are asking residents in the area to review any home surveillance or doorbell camera footage from the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 2, as any footage showing someone walking, riding a bicycle, or leaving the area could be beneficial to the investigation.
