A pair of masked individuals scaled the Empire State Building to its summit on Wednesday, unfurling a banner with a message of peace. The duo, appearing to be a man and a woman, reached the spire of the approximately 1,450-foot building.
As they clung to the spire, they displayed a banner that read: "When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace." The method by which they ascended the building remains unclear.
Following the display, which occurred around midday, one climber began a descent before returning to the top. The New York City Police Department confirmed officers were responding to the incident.
